“You’ve got to tell me now.” “Fine, fine. If you insist.” I rolled my eyes at him, but he paid me no heed as he began his story. “The old man was called Anderson. He was an evil, shrivelled little thing. He ran with the Soul Stealers for a while, but then he turned good. Turning me was an act of kindness on his part – he saved me from what could have been a nasty death.” I snorted. “I don’t know if I’d describe being made into a vampire an act of kindness.”
