Jason chuckled softly, the sound too elegant for someone who could tear a man apart without blinking. “She’s dead, Adrian. She’s not going anywhere.”
“You heard me.”
Jason’s smile faded. He tilted his head slightly, studying Adrian with an expression that mixed curiosity and disappointment, like a teacher watching a student fail a lesson he should have mastered ages ago.
“You completed your ritual,” Jason said. “You should feel powerful. Renewed. Above all this. Yet here you are… mourning.”
