In 'Mercy Thompson' there's a subtle version of this with pack bonds providing emotional stability, but a dedicated gamma role takes it further.

I've seen it written as a defensive power too, not just emotional. Some novels have them projecting a barrier of calm that disrupts aggressive instincts, which is a neat twist on non-combat strength.
