"I don't feel good, Zach. I don't..." She's unable to complete her words and leaned back in the pillow. "It's okay, Jade. Don't think about anything and relax." Making her drink some water despite her refusing it, I stroked her bare shoulders and pressed my lips on the crown of her head.

Looking at the mess Adonis has created while eating his breakfast, Jade speaks up, "Hey, I need to give Adonis a bath, but I'II find you afterwards...does that sound okay? Would you be free by then?" Jade asks while picking Adonis up from his highchair, balancing him on her hips. She smiles as he places a slobbery kiss on her cheeks, successfully managing to rub off the maple syrup onto her face.

Jade walked Ashley backwards, until the back of her legs bumped into Ray's knees, catching her off-guard. Ray quickly closed his legs together, forcing Ashley to spread hers, and straddle his waist. He lifted his head, sitting back up. One more small nudge by Jade, caused Ashley to lose her balance. Jade pushed her backwards, forcing Ashley to plop her bare ass down on Ray's lap, with her back to him. Ashley could feel Ray's hands settle around her waist while Jade circled behind Ray and climbed onto the back of the couch.

Jade’s face crumpled with pity. She dropped down immediately and wrapped her arms around her. “I’m sorry, Honey,” she whispered, rubbing her back. Then her voice hardened. “But this is not the time to stay here crying. Let’s go confront that bastard.” She rose to her feet and pulled Honey up with her. “I know that hall. It’s Domino’s Event Center. Thirty minutes away.” Honey nodded weakly, her face drained of color. She let Jade drag her out of the house, moving like a soulless thing, seeing the world through tear-blurred eyes.

Jackson did not want to get involved, but he could not bear it anymore and walked out of the room. Looking down from the second floor, he could only see that Jade was sitting in her wheelchair and emotionally scolding Sarah. Sarah had her back against his mother and her head was lowered. She was half-kneeling on the floor, wiping the floor with a cloth. Jackson was about to persuade his mother from upstairs but he stopped when he saw Sarah’s outraged face.
