“Dinner still on?” She nodded, brushing her fingers through her damp hair. “He’s bringing BBQ. Said he got enough to feed a small army.” Her dad grunted. “Better be good. I skipped lunch.” At 6:15 sharp, the familiar growl of Jaxon’s truck cut through the silence. Harper peered through the blinds like a total creep, watching as he parked, climbed out, and adjusted the paper bags in his arms.
