Black basketball shorts hung low on narrow hips, the waistband of dark boxer briefs visible above them. A fresh tattoo wrapped his left forearm—something sharp and geometric, still red at the edges. He leaned on his railing, forearms braced, and met her eyes without flinching.
“Evening,” he said. Voice rough from disuse or smoke or both.
