Her Quirk's overuse doesn't just drain her stamina; it literally causes sensory deprivation, making the world go quiet and gray. For someone who relies on her senses for safety and connection, that's a terrifying psychological price to pay. The strength and the weakness are two sides of the same coin, and neither feels tacked-on. The balancing act happens in the story, not on a spec sheet, because she has to constantly choose between being effective and safeguarding her own sense of self.

Man, the key is remembering that a quirk is just one part of a person. I see so many OCs where the quirk is a crazy-combination superweapon, but the character is a cardboard cutout. Think backwards. What kind of life did this person have with this power? If you have a quirk that lets you store sound in your body and release it, did they grow up in a loud city or a quiet village? Are they constantly overwhelmed by noise, or do they crave silence? That friction between the power and the person's personality creates way more interesting stories than 'he has fire and ice powers.'

For the quirk itself, look at mundane things and make them profound. Aizawa's 'Erasure' is literally just looking at someone, but the implications are huge. My favorite OC I ever wrote had a quirk called 'Shelf Life'—she could designate small objects as 'preserved,' halting their decay and locking them in their current state. It seemed weak until the story explored using it on a wound, or on a crumbling building, or on a moment of emotion captured in a fading photograph. Limitations and costs are your best friend; they force clever writing.

Start with a solid, simple concept and then ask 'what if' until it breaks in an interesting way. Don't just bolt two existing quirks together. Think about the physics, the biology, the psychology. Would having that power hurt? Be inconvenient? Change how you see the world? That's where the uniqueness blooms.

The popular ones aren't just random power dumps; they tend to either fill a world-building gap or twist an existing character's ability into something new.
