A beam of light passed through the wizard's clawed hand, but he made no threatening gesture. Ragnar raised his weapon but did not attack because he wanted to see what would happen. "What can my master give for your soul?" asked the wizard in a voice mixed with magic. 'What do you want? Think and it will be yours.''

"I'm not deceiving you," he insisted, locking eyes with Zedekiel, “I swear it. My true identity is Raldore Nightshade, a witch—the youngest child of Malik and Yara Nightshade, leaders of the esteemed Nightshade Coven." Young Zedekiel's shock was palpable, his features frozen in disbelief as Ron's words washed over him like a tidal wave. He shook his head, taking a few steps backwards. “No. No you’re lying. You cannot be a witch. You smell different. You smell human.”

Wilbur heaved a sigh of relief at the words, but Nightless Elder proceeded to say something that shocked him to his core. "You're the Night Demon, Wilbur." "What? I'm the Night Demon?" Wilbur pointed at himself with a shaking finger, unable to believe that he was the Night Demon. Nightless Elder said, "Yes, you heard that right. Did you forget what I said, Wilbur? The Night Demons appear every time darkness falls. The skies are now filled with dark clouds, covering the sun completely. That's a sign of the Night Demon's coming. You, Wilbur Penn, are the fifth Night Demon."

Night pondered for a while before continuing, “It’s impossible to reign in such a menacing aura in a split second.” I had been thinking about it too since last night and drew the same conclusion as Night. “Have you ever encountered that kind of sinister aura before?” I asked him. Night had been living with different humans for centuries; it wouldn't be a surprise if he had encountered it before. “No. I would’ve remembered if I did. It was just so spooky it put me on guard instantly,” he replied. “Aleena and Witch Lily were instantly alerted, too,” I said. He hummed and added, “But not Zane, Colton, or Lucas.”

And then she saw it. The nightspawn was in the middle of being caged, not by iron bars but by a ritual. White rings made of runes surrounded the unconscious nightspawn. Eight men were around it performing hand signs in unison. They were not moonmages but ordinary Orion officers who were just trained in basic moon art. It couldn’t have been her who had set up the magical circles. It had to be Sir Tanori, then. He must have come in the nick of time and managed to keep the two of them from being blown together.
