Your Dad's Perfect
Her voice breaks the silence, soft and hesitant.
“You killed your dad, Grayson.”
I groan, the weight of it all pressing down on me. “He wasn’t my dad,” I mutter, frustration lacing my voice. “Not in the way your dad was a father to you.”
She looks at me, waiting for an explanation. I sigh. “Look, things started going missing around the house, and my dad blamed me. Every time, no questions asked, it was me. He’d beat me for it, no proof, just accusations. But I knew it wasn’t me. So one night, I followed him. I took pictures of him selling my grandmother’s jewelry and heading into a casino. He found out, smashed the camera, and beat the crap out of me.”
