The word lingers between us. Lesson. It settles, heavy and suffocating, pressing into the space until even the music below feels distant beneath the weight of it.
“And you’re not finished learning yet.”
The bass still pulses through the floor, the lights still flash, the crowd still moves, and then everything stops.
Darkness drops without warning, total, absolute. The music cuts mid-beat, collapsing into nothing, replaced by a sharp, disoriented silence that fractures almost instantly into noise; shouting, confusion, bodies shifting blindly. Someone screams. Glass shatters somewhere below.
