I scream some more, but a cloth is fitted in my mouth, and the taste of it makes me gag. I don’t allow despair to touch my heart. I still have one option left, and that’s to shift. I close my eyes and brace myself for the swift change to happen, but something searing hot touches the inside of my wrist and makes me scream. Silver. I know it before I even see it.

At least I had changed the first part of our fate. Silver Springs was famous for its natural geothermal steam rooms. Clara dragged Liam off to the buffet. Those two were always in sync when it came to food. It was good to see. Seeing her so innocent and carefree, I felt a wave of emotion wash over me. In this life, I just want my sister to be happy.
