"Then stop noticing."
"Can't help it. You're not subtle."
"And you're not charming, but here we are."
Cross laughed outright that time, and Zenith turned to glare at him. "Eyes on the road."
"Yes, Alpha."
I smoothed Eli's hair back, more for my own hands to do something than for him, and stared straight ahead as the road curved and the trees finally parted.
Iron gates stood at the entrance, taller than I remembered. The Blood Moon crest was carved into the centre, right where it had always been. Two guards straightened at the sight of the car, and the gates began to move, groaning as they pulled apart.
