I pull my hand out of Johan's grip and scream the loudest I can. "Stop! " With that, the whole stadium falls silent, and the boys stop firing. All that's is heard, are the weak boy's sobs.

the second guy cries, tears streaming down his face. ‎I step closer, my shadow falling over him. ‎“You don’t know…” I repeat slowly, my eyes narrowing, “…or you refuse to point him out?” ‎My voice rises sharply at the last words. ‎Anger surges again. ‎Without hesitation, I turn the tool on him. ‎His scream is even louder....so sharp it almost feels like it pierces straight through my skull. I wince slightly, but it doesn’t stop me. ‎The others are trembling violently now, some squeezing their eyes shut, others watching in horror.

Akiko screamed, clutching her head and collapsing to the ground. Akiko's scream was louder than the rain—almost as loud as the thunder in Kenji's ears. That scream burned away his last bit of hope. “Kiko-chan, don’t…” Kenji grabbed Akiko's hands, trying to stop her from scratching her temples. Akiko wanted to stop the pain and pull out whatever was piercing her mind. “IT HURTS!” Akiko screamed, struggling against Kenji's embrace as he kneeled beside her. “There’s nothing wrong. Everything inside me wants to scream and faint. Tears bite the back of my eyes. “I didn't do anything,,,” I can barely hear my own voice. Alpha Dante glowers at me, his jaw clenched so hard I fear for his teeth. No, I fear for my life. He’s not letting me go. Not until I say something. “I didn’t—” “You didn't what?” “I—I—” The tears come. Violent, ugly, flowing from my eyes like an endless stream. The sobs coming out of me are ugly. I hate the way my voice sounds, the raw anguish I can't shake off.

“Haru. Haru, look at me. Are you hurt?” I shook my head shakily, tears spilling down my cheeks. “I’m okay,” I whispered, though my whole body trembled violently. Jiro’s jaw clenched, his thumb brushing over the tender spot on my cheek as though he could erase the pain. “I’m so sorry,” he said hoarsely, his voice thick with guilt and anger. “This never should’ve happened. I’ll make sure he never comes near you again. I swear it.” I broke then, my chest heaving with sobs as I buried my face against him. The fear, the helplessness—it all came pouring out. Jiro held me tightly, his arms wrapped around me like a shield, his presence anchoring me as the world spun.
