The book was ancient, copied down for many generations, and there was no rhyme or reason to its order. It was as if the information was written at the time of discovery. ‘It’s a book, just find it.’ Bree scoffed, thinking he should be with her looking for the cure if he really wanted it that badly. The book glowed slightly as Bree felt warmth through her fingers. ‘No shit.’ ‘What? Did you find it?’ ‘No, not yet. The book just alphabetized itself.’ Bree looked at her fingers. ‘Wow, I have magic in me.’

The room suddenly feels colder. I should leave. I turn to go— But my elbow knocks the edge of the small table beside the bed. The book she was holding drops to the floor with a thud. I sigh and bend down, picking it up. The cover is still upside down. But when I flip it, so the cover is upside down and the spine faces the floor, something strange happens. The text inside is perfectly upright. My fingers freeze on the page. I flip back to the front. The title is wrong-side up again.

For the stances, Alex loves it and even practiced some of it but for the spells, Alex find difficult to use. Each time he tries to cast a spell, he feels an opposite movement of power and the spell won't work. Alex told himself maybe spells casting is not his thing and keeps practicing. As Almond has told him, he has to be more powerful to take control as an alpha in this realm.
