One afternoon, when the sun stood up, they splashed third in the pond. Valeria sat on Marcus’ shoulders and squeaked with pleasure while Livia injected. The purple light of her family glowed brightly and played with Reflections on the water.

As soon as my fingers touch it, it lights up, but this time instead of being gold like for Morpheus, this one glows violet. I slowly step forward, following it, allowing the connection line to slide easily through my finger. Never gripping it tight but not holding it loose enough that it will slip out of my fingers altogether. I follow that violet line until we get to what looks like a lock. It seemed like someone had put a block on her connection to whoever was on the other side.

Rayan . Sunlight streamed into the room through the window, and the curtains danced with the cool, gentle morning breeze. As soon as I woke up, my eyes were drawn to the weight resting on my arm. Violet was lying there, her head nestled close to my chest, her body tucked against mine as if she were hiding from the world.

On the underside of her forearm, pale against her skin, was a mark. It was faint, almost translucent, but unmistakable: a crescent moon, curved and delicate, glowing faintly as though lit from beneath her flesh. Evelyn stumbled back from the mirror, clutching her wrist. The mark pulsed once, in rhythm with her heartbeat, before fading to nothing more than a faint silver shimmer. Her throat went dry.

The air hummed again and something glowed faintly to my right. Looking, a small pedestal had risen out of the earth and on it rested… a fruit. A single, round, pearlescent fruit shaped like a teardrop, pulsing with faint violet light. My violet. My color. My magic. It was calling to me but in the same way the storm calls Riven. The same way the darkness calls Dax. The same way fire calls Zaiden… and ice calls Zyran. Blue nudged it and I swallowed hard.

Leo couldn’t help but laugh at the basic question, but answers nonetheless. “Blue.” “Pink.” Violet answers, an obvious one considering she was dressed in all pink tonight, a blushed colored silk dress clinging to her body, matching that of the shimmery eye shadow she wore and the gloss painting her lips. “Yours?” “I like Purple.” Livi answers after a moment of thought. “I bet purple looks great on you.” Violet says, looking the girl over. “I bet everything looks good on her, she’s hot.” Leo adds, and Liviana couldn’t help but blush at the bluntness of her words.
