That was one of the most insane ideas she had ever heard. When Morgana was in front of her, Violet stared into her eyes, and only then she realized the purple iris was really bright, like it was shining. "Let's see how long you can take it." Morgana said and waved her hand, and Violet felt her body whirr and bump against the table. The vases and books above it fell on the floor. A few candles were blown out when Violet flew above them. "Are you really going to mess all your office just to provoke me?" Violet said with a teasing smile.

I said quietly, “we burn with her.” Riven’s lips curved, dark and certain. “Gladly.” Violet turned then, eyes catching ours, a spark flashing through her irises, like she felt our thoughts crawling over her skin. She raised a brow at us, suspicious as hell, and shouted across the room, “Stop staring at me like that! I didn’t blow anything up...yet!” Blue chirped, confirming the “yet.” Her friends immediately froze, the whole room went silent, and then Abigail whispered, “Goddess, she really is terrifying.”

She knew if it was happy, sad, angry, upset, bitter, or somewhat lazy. “Something happened. Her voice was not natural. It was restless.” Irene on the other line, transferred her cellphone to her left ear. “Hmmm. The restless Violet! That, of course, belongs to Monet." Marie intended for the guards to hear it loudly, so she clicked the speaker. While she knew it was not permitted to speak loudly there, she needed to dissuade them from the monitors that were everywhere tracking her movements. She was an invited visitor. “You’re perfectly right. I can breathe now. The two royal guards leave.”

Scarlet’s POV I was inside the room with Elizabeth when Vespara came in, and to my complete surprise, she wasn’t alone, Violet was with her. I didn’t expect to see Violet here at all. She had been so adamant on the phone, so filled with anger and pain, that I had truly believed she wouldn’t come. And yet, there she was, standing on her own feet, despite her usual reliance on a wheelchair. It took me a second to understand what I was seeing, Violet Blackthorn standing at the doorway, her back straight, her face guarded, and her eyes locked on her mother’s fragile form lying on the bed.

The gentle morning sun shone on Violet, who was standing in the back garden facing the roses in front of her with scissors in her hands. She stood like a statue. Her gaze was blank, with dark circles around her eyes. Her body was here, but she left her soul and mind in that beautiful lake.

At the border of the pack. "Oh fuck!" I jerked up to a sitting position. Did Silus make it back all by himself? It would be the only explanation for why I was even here. There was no way… The rest of my thoughts trailed into silence as I turned my head to the right when Violet was sleeping. And whether the heavens liked it or not, time stopped in that moment. The soft breeze blowing through the curtains brought red and yellow flower petals to appreciate the quiet and peace on her face. Then she scrunched her nose up and the clock started ticking and with that came the realization that I wasn't the only one with no cloth on my ass.

He turned the moment I closed the door behind me, and of course, there went that look again. “Don’t give me that look, because I don’t owe you any explanation,” I snapped. I was hoping he wouldn’t tell me he was watching out for Violet, because that Violet was just in the next room pretending to be someone else. How did she even get here? She was an orphan last I checked, with only herself and her grandmother. So how on earth did she end up here? To be hiding in such a position as CEO? I’m not underestimating her capacity, but to get there in such a limited time?

"Oh. Marcus Hale's office just called back. They had a cancellation. Can you be there in an hour?" I looked at her. At my fierce, loyal, perfect best friend. "Yes," I said. "Let's go destroy them." The elevator doors opened to the lobby. Miguel looked up, saw my face, and quickly looked away. Smart man. Because Violet Carter was done being the victim. Violet Carter was going to war.
