A few stable individuals were running around, attending to those in desperate need. Suddenly, three witches ran toward us, blocking our path. “We want to see the elder,” I said, but they didn’t move an inch. I wasn’t surprised by their actions. The witches had their own ways of doing things. They valued boundaries and preferred to keep to themselves, away from anyone who didn’t belong. We werewolves respected that and usually stayed out of their way. But now, I couldn’t afford to adhere to their rules. 29 – INVASION STEPHAN I heard a hissing sound and then out of the blue, one of the witches came flying at me from the dark. It was a good thing that I could see in the dark else that attack would have been really fatal. I spun to the side and she missed me wildly. She landed on the floor on all fours and then let out a high pitch piercing scream. The entrance to the cave began to tremble and everything around me felt like it was vibrating at an exceedingly high pace.

Mum wasn't the kind to go back on her words.
