I pressed my fingers together slowly and felt my jaw tighten.
"Sir."
Alex appeared at the door, tablet in hand, looking the way he always looked. Neat. Efficient. Slightly nervous around the edges.
"Any update on Williams Beckett?" I asked without looking up.
Alex cleared his throat.
"That's actually what I came to report," he said, stepping inside carefully. "I've searched extensively, sir. Online. Databases. Public records. I cannot find anything substantial about him."
I looked up then.
"Nothing?" I said.
