LOGINTracy Grant died after serving a sentence for her sister. After being reborn, she didn't want to walk through the same paths as she had previously. She got close to the villain from her past life to ensure that she would be protected and have powerful backing. Will she be able to melt the ice heart and get what she wants? How will she get her revenge?
View More“Tracy, you are going to be released today. Are you excited?” her roommate asked the woman who was seated on her bed, staring at the white wall blankly.
Hearing her name being called out, Tracy broke out of her thoughts and looked at her roommate.
‘Being released?’ she asked herself before getting stunned. The years had flown so quickly. She was happy that she was going to get her freedom, but at the same time, sad as she didn’t know where to go after being released.
She recalled how her family pleaded with her to take her sister’s blame. They promised that they would find a good lawyer for her, but it seemed that they had just wanted to get rid of her. She let out a cold laugh. Apart from her so-called sister, who just visited her to show off, her parents never visited her even once. Why should she call her family when they didn’t treat her well?
Twenty years, twenty good years in prison, but I never saw them.
Now, she felt that staying in here was plenty good as she wouldn’t deal with her family. She didn’t want to go back to them, so after her release, where would she go? She didn’t have money, no friends in the city.
The heaviness in her heart grew as she thought of the past.
Her roommate had been staring at her the whole time, so she saw her every expression and sighed. She knew the woman’s story, so tragic, being betrayed by her parents for an adopted sister.
“Why are you so worried about? When you leave here, make sure you live a good life,” she said, causing Tracy to look at her.
“Good life?” Tracy asked with a low laugh. “What good life after leaving here? I have no money, no place to sleep, I don’t even know anyone.” Her eyes were emotionless, just blank, as if she were lifeless.
Her roommate shook her head and asked, “Just that is what's bothering you, huh?” Tracy nodded her head.
“I really don’t care about them, and I am not planning on going to them. Who knows what they will ask me next time?” Tracy asked, filled with fear at the thought that if she went back, every time her adopted sister, Eve, committed a crime, she was the one who took all the blame. She didn’t want that; she wanted to live her own life for once, getting punished for her mistakes and rewarded for her good deeds.
“Then it is easy. I talked to my brother about you and the skills you have. Here is his address. After leaving, go find him; he will help you out,” her roommate said, startling her.
Tracy looked at the paper in the woman’s hands and felt emotional. However, she didn’t take it immediately but looked at the woman, “What do you want in return?” she asked.
“In return? Nothing girl. You have been my best friend here, so if I don’t help you out, who will I help? Also, I want you to promise me that you will live your life and also live mine,” her roommate said in a serious tone.
Her crime was bigger than Tracy's, and she had been sentenced for fifty years. Just like the others, she didn’t believe that she would make it out on her release date. She had already served seventeen years, and she had thirty-three years to go.
Tracy felt emotional at her words.
“Promise me, Tracy. See my brother as your own brother; he will help you out for my sake. You don’t need to feel stressed about what will happen after you live. I have already taken care of that,” the woman said with a smile on her face.
“I promise,” Tracy said as she took the paper from her hands and placed it on her bed. She started arranging her things, as after she walked away, the bed would likely become someone else's.
“Tracy, you are free to go,” the prison warden said as she reached their prison cell, causing Tracy to nod.
“I will be coming to visit you,” she told her roommate, wiping the tears that had started to fall as she glanced at her roommate. She sniffed, then hugged the woman who hugged her back with a smile.
“Okay, I will be waiting for you here to tell me how life has been treating you,” the roommate replied before pushing Tracy out of the cell.
“Go, go. Don’t let them think that you don’t want to leave,” she added, and Tracy nodded her head.
She followed the warden as she was led towards the gate.
After stepping out, she looked at the sky and took a deep breath. Her eyes fell on the paper in her hand, looked at the address, and sighed in relief. “My prayers have been answered, now I can live my own life,” she mumbled with a smile before taking steps forward.
With no time, she was a distance from City Blue Women's Cell. She walked, looking around, getting amazed at how the world had rapidly changed when she was inside.
Since she had been busy looking around, she didn’t see the red car parked a few miles from her.
She suddenly heard a car driving in her direction at high speed, causing her to look forward. ‘This car,’ she mumbled as she felt something familiar with it.
Soon, she realized that the driver was driving in her direction. No matter how foolish she was, she realized something and hurriedly walked to the side, but it was already too late.
The driver had driven in the direction she had been escaping, not giving her a chance. She had even stepped on the full engine and increased the speed.
Tracy felt herself being hit and her body thrown away. When she landed, she felt more pain, injured by the fall. She let out a soft cry as she tried getting up, but her bones had been broken into pieces; she could feel it. The more she tried moving, the more she was in pain as she was just dragged her broken self forward.
She gave up and lay down. She heard footsteps walking towards her, and she stiffly lifted her head, though she couldn’t see the person; she saw heels.
“Please help me,” she mumbled as she winced in pain.
The person chuckled at her words. “Oh, sister,” she said.
Tracy froze; all the hopes she had just faded as soon as she heard that voice. That was her sister, Eve Grant. They had been swapped at birth, but even after it was discovered, and was taken back to the Grants, her parents refused to let Eve leave and instead, adopted her.
She didn’t mind, but when Eve accidentally killed someone, she pleaded with their parents to save her. Their parents begged her to take the fall for Eve and claim that she was the one who had hit the girl who died. They promised that she wouldn’t be locked up.
Naively, she agreed. How could she be a fool to believe them? If it was really true that she won’t go to prison, why didn’t they let Eve admit her mistake? By the time she realized the truth, it was already too late.
“Why?” she asked in a low tone, then winced in pain.
“Why? How can I let you come back? So that I can share the Grants with you? I can only become the Grant heiress and inherit everything!” Eve said coldly.
“Please send me to the hospital, I promise, I will leave and never show up,” Tracy begged as she felt her body failing her.
“No, I never take chances! I want you to die!” Eve said coldly before laughing. “How can I be a fool? As long as you live, you will always be a thorn at my side.”
“Please,” Tracy begged.
“Never. Everything belongs to me!” Eve said as she stepped on her leg, making Tracy shout as tears flowed down her cheeks.
She tried moving her leg, but she was unable to making her panic. Before, she was able to drag her body, but now she couldn’t. Dizziness engulfed her as her head started throbbing profusely. She knew it was because of the blood loss.
“Hahaha, it seems that you are dying so soon,” Eve said, laughing loudly.
Tracy lifted her hand, but all of a sudden, darkness engulfed her, and her hand fell.
“Don’t worry, I am not that unreasonable,” Alaine said as she looked at her daughter, afraid that she might misunderstand and think that she was still favoring Eve over her.Tracy gave her the last glance before she walked towards the massage bed and lay down.Since both women had been staring at her, they sighed, but each had a different emotion about the scene.“Go buy us lunch,” Rhoda said as she dragged Alaine out and then closed the door.Immediately, she turned to Tracy, and she found that the girl had already fallen asleep. She stared at Tracy for a while as she wondered whether she was really asleep or had just closed her eyes so as not to speak to anyone.Though she had prepared herself to speak to the girl, with the sudden move, she couldn’t. She sighed as she thought that since she was back, they still had a lot of time to talk; there was no need for her to rush things. She observed Tracy’s skin for a while to know what type it was before walking to the shelf, where all cosm
Alaine stared at Rhoda, her gaze unfocused, all that was ringing in her ears were Rhoda’s words: ‘This is the kind your precious daughter lived when she was in Eve’s place. ‘Tracy frowned as she could tell that there was something wrong with the woman, but she didn’t want to speak, believing that it wasn’t life-threatening.What Tracy could tell Rhoda could do. She looked at Alaine, displeased as she wondered when her friend had become this weak. She sighed as she started shaking the woman so as to wake her up, causing Alaine to jump in fright.Seeing that it was Rhoda’s, she calmed down a little bit, but she was displeased with the woman’s actions.“Why did you do that?” Her eyes were full of anger, but a hint of confusion.Rhoda rolled her eyes at her and said, “You need to leave so that we can start the treatment.”Alaine stared at her for a while, something inside her telling her that the woman was lying, but since she wasn’t in a good mood, she nodded her head. She turned around
“Y…you, what happened to you?” she asked as she stammered, her eyes still on the scars and wounds at the latter’s naked parts. However, just as she asked that question, she shook her head, thinking that she was foolish, how could she ask her that question when its quite evident what had happened.“Alaine, come in here,” she shouted, startling both Tracy and Alaine.Tracy stared at her, a frown on her face, not understanding what that woman was calling her mother for.She opened her mouth to say something but her mother had already opened the door.As soon as she walked in, she looked around panickingly, didn’t see anything wrong and sighed in relief. “Why are you screaming? Gosh, someone might think that something bad has happened,”Hearing her words, Rhoda turned to her, fury in her eyes and face. “Nothing bad? Are you blind?”Alaine frowned, not understanding why the latter was behaving like that. “Can you come down and explain what’s wrong?”Rhoda pointed at the woman, her chest ri
“Hae Rhoda,” Alaine greeted the lady behind the desk when they walked into the spa.The woman who was busy typing on the keyboard lifted her head. When she saw Alaine, a smile appeared on her face. “Hae Alaine. Weren’t you here a few days ago?”“I brought my daughter today,” Alaine said.Rhoda nodded as they were used to seeing Eve every week. She looked around and couldn’t see Eve. She turned to Alaine with a confused gaze. “Where is she?”“Here she is,” Alaine said as she pulled Tracy closer to her. “I bet you haven’t seen the company’s news.”Rhoda shook her head, then stared at the woman waiting for her to tell her what was going on.“The kids were swapped at birth. She is my biological daughter, Tracy. Can you please be the one serving her?”Rhoda stared at the girl whom her friend had introduced. Hearing her last sentence, she frowned, not understanding why the latter would request such a thing, but she still nodded as the woman really requested anything.“I am your mom’s friend
Despite walking hurriedly, the distance between the two continued widening, causing Alaine to panic. Her face was full of tears, making everyone who passed her look at her twice as they found her too pretty and rich. With no option, she stopped a motorbike that passed her.“Can you please reach that
Alaine stared at Tracy, her heart aching. She understood that the latter must have gone a lot to make her doubt everyone.“You are my daughter, my flesh and blood, so how can I not be ashamed of you?” she said before turning to Lilian and her brother.“I am sorry for making a fool out of myself,” s
The driver frowned as he stared at the latter, who seemed frozen in the middle of the road, displeasure filling him as each second passed; his patience was running out.“Brother, it seemed the little girl is frightened; you really can’t blame her,” the girl in the passenger seat said with a chuckle
Alaine stared at Tracy, thinking her daughter’s laugh was so pleasing to the ears, but something felt uneasy.“What? The Grants heiress needs to ask her husband for permission? Are you the company’s CEO or is he? No, sorry, aren’t you the Grant’s daughter? So your words carry more weight than his, r
