Despite walking hurriedly, the distance between the two continued widening, causing Alaine to panic. Her face was full of tears, making everyone who passed her look at her twice as they found her too pretty and rich.

With no option, she stopped a motorbike that passed her.

“Can you please reach that lady?” she asked as she climbed up.

The man was stunned but still did as told.

Tracy heard a motorbike behind her, causing her to step aside, but when it stopped in front of her and she recognized her mother, she snorted and continued walking.

“Baby, I am sorry, okay?” Alaine said as she hurriedly ran to her and hugged her, stunning everyone.

“I am sorry, but I am not your daughter. Your daughter is at home,” Tracy said coldly, making more tears roll down her mother’s cheeks.

“I am sorry. You are the daughter I carried for nine months; my blood runs in your veins; how can you not be my daughter?” Alaine asked stubbornly and didn’t let go of Tracy’s arm no matter how much Tracy tried to get out of her grip.

“I promise, okay? I will announce to everyone who is my daughter, then we can hold a banquet next week, okay?” Alaine asked in a low tone, but her eyes softened.

Tracy’s stared at her for a while and said, “Too bad. I initially thought that we could all live together; you can adopt her, but I have changed my mind. I want to be your only daughter; you can’t even adopt her.”

Her words shook Alaine; she even forgot how to cry, just stared at Tracy in disbelief. She wondered whether in this life, she was really meant to stay alone, without the people she loved.

“B…but,” she tried speaking, but Tracy raised her other hand to stop her.

“Please, I don’t want to listen to whatever you want to say. I want that; nothing you say can change my mind,” Tracy said coldly.

“But where will she go?” Alaine murmured; Tracy heard her words clearly.

“Can’t she go back to her parents’ house?” she asked. “Anyways, I know I can’t make things hard for you, so I have a solution.”

Alaine’s eyes widened as her lips curled up. I knew my daughter was just angry; she can’t be cold-hearted.

Tracy, seeing her look, knew what she was thinking but pretended not to notice anything.

“She can live with us. However, she should change her surname back to her family’s. Live in the room that they had prepared for me. Announce to the public that she will be just a girl you are sponsoring and have nothing to do with you. She isn’t your biological nor your adopted daughter.”

The smile on Alaine’s face froze.  Her eyes became unfocused.

“Oh, and whatever I get, she can’t. I, as the Grant’s daughter, should have everything, branded clothes and all, but she can’t. She can’t also be receiving the allowance money. It is enough that you are providing her with shelter, food, and paying for her fees.” Tracy continued, her eyes staring at her mother’s face, not willing to miss any expression on her face.

She thought that she had been too softhearted to her since she came back; she even opted to forgive her mother for what she did in her past life, but now, she didn’t want that.

Something told her that she might end up regretting everything if she continued on that path.

“Can you accept that? If not, can you leave my hand and let me go?” Tracy asked.

Alaine subconsciously held her tighter.

Her mind flashed the years she had lived with Eve, since she was a kid till now, how she had pampered her, Eve’s laughter, her tears, everything.

She opened her mouth to say something, but her eyes met with Tracy’s, causing her panic. At those eyes, just like her father’s, her heart clenched.

“Okay,” she found herself saying. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and decided to be selfish for once, not to care about others, just her and her daughter.

She had to accept the fact that after knowing Tracy was her biological daughter and seeing her, she didn’t want to be separated from her at all.

“Since you have agreed, why don’t you show me how sincere you are?” Tracy asked.

“How?” Alaine was stunned when she noticed that the aura emitting from Tracy was so domineering, causing everyone to follow her words. However, she soon smiled as she thought that that was her daughter, even the aura came from her father.

“Just posting the truth. Announce right now Eve’s identity. And call the company to repost your post,” Tracy said, and Alaine shook her head.

Tracy’s eyes darkened. She looked at the woman more coldly. “No, if I let go of you, you will leave.”

The coldness was replaced with surprise after she heard those words.

“Trust me. Why would I go when I am waiting for you to show me how sincere you are?” Tracy asked, causing Alaine to frown, stare at her for a while, then shake her head again.

“We need to first discuss it with your father. After that, we can post, okay?” Alaine said, causing Tracy to let out a laugh.

“Y…you, what happened to you?” she asked as she stammered, her eyes still on the scars and wounds at the latter’s naked parts. However, just as she asked that question, she shook her head, thinking that she was foolish, how could she ask her that question when its quite evident what had happened.“Alaine, come in here,” she shouted, startling both Tracy and Alaine.Tracy stared at her, a frown on her face, not understanding what that woman was calling her mother for.She opened her mouth to say something but her mother had already opened the door.As soon as she walked in, she looked around panickingly, didn’t see anything wrong and sighed in relief. “Why are you screaming? Gosh, someone might think that something bad has happened,”Hearing her words, Rhoda turned to her, fury in her eyes and face. “Nothing bad? Are you blind?”Alaine frowned, not understanding why the latter was behaving like that. “Can you come down and explain what’s wrong?”Rhoda pointed at the woman, her chest ri

“Hae Rhoda,” Alaine greeted the lady behind the desk when they walked into the spa.The woman who was busy typing on the keyboard lifted her head. When she saw Alaine, a smile appeared on her face. “Hae Alaine. Weren’t you here a few days ago?”“I brought my daughter today,” Alaine said.Rhoda nodded as they were used to seeing Eve every week. She looked around and couldn’t see Eve. She turned to Alaine with a confused gaze. “Where is she?”“Here she is,” Alaine said as she pulled Tracy closer to her. “I bet you haven’t seen the company’s news.”Rhoda shook her head, then stared at the woman waiting for her to tell her what was going on.“The kids were swapped at birth. She is my biological daughter, Tracy. Can you please be the one serving her?”Rhoda stared at the girl whom her friend had introduced. Hearing her last sentence, she frowned, not understanding why the latter would request such a thing, but she still nodded as the woman really requested anything.“I am your mom’s friend

“Of course not, dear. Since that’s what you want, then we can go with that,” Alaine said.“You heard what my daughter said, the banquet should be one of a kind. You have a week,” she said.“Okay, madam,” the secretary replied, and the call was disconnected.“Wow, with that kind of heiress, I wouldn’t mind working overtime to make this banquet the prettiest,” one of the secretaries said, and the others nodded their heads.“Why don’t we divide the work? That way, we can do a great job. I also have a feeling that we won’t be given other tasks apart from that.” The others nodded as they all wanted to contribute as a way to thank Tracy for speaking for them.“The boss might not, but you know her husband.” Upon hearing those words, everyone stopped talking as they knew how Mr Grant was; he always allocated tasks to them so that everyone could see that he had a say. Still, he didn’t have a lot of the company’s shares. After hanging up the call, Alaine opened Weibo, looked at the company’s mai

Alaine stared at Tracy, thinking her daughter’s laugh was so pleasing to the ears, but something felt uneasy.“What? The Grants heiress needs to ask her husband for permission? Are you the company’s CEO or is he? No, sorry, aren’t you the Grant’s daughter? So your words carry more weight than his, right?” Tracy asked, causing Alaine to panic.“You just claim that you need to ask your husband for his decision; if he refuses, you will claim that it wasn’t that you didn’t do it, but he did? I am so sure that you sure how he favors Eve more than he favors me, right?”Tracy looked at her mother with indifference, her heart already gone cold with everything that happened. Well, she went back to being the indifferent Tracy who had just walked into the Grants' mansion after being reborn.“Anyways, Miss Grant, if you don’t want to acknowledge me, just say so; please stop wasting my time. I need to go look for a cheap house to live in,” Tracy added, but Alaine understood those unsaid words. She,
