Sorrel’s POV

It was the third day of Abigeal’s imprisonment, she wouldn’t see me and to some extent I understood why.

She didn’t want to sully my hands as well as hers so I’d let her be.

My mother had been brought into the pack house, Nathaniel insisted on it. Said it wasn’t good for the Luna’s mother to remain in the infirmary.

Poppy was in my room, fixing my hair. Her eyes met mine in the mirror. It was the second time it had happened today, and she only did that when she had a lot on her min

Abigeal’s POVMy heart fell as I saw Nathaniel close the door behind him. I knew this moment was coming from the very time I kept breathing and he proclaimed his mercy on me, and yet, it still didn’t prepare me for the brutality that was coming from him.“What do you want?” I demanded, forcing myself to remain brave even if I felt anything but.“Now that’s not the way to speak to your Alpha and brother little sister.”I swallowed and pinned my gaze on his. “You are not my alpha or brother, asshole. You are a monster—“My face fell to the side and my ears rang deafening me for a minute. The side of my face where he had struck burned and pulsed with heat energy.Tears welled up in my eyes as I lifted my head, “Why are you mad, is that not what you are?”He grabbed my neck in a blink of an eye and compressed it.“You will show me respect, whore!” He spat. “You think your little plan to kill me is going to work?”He chuckled, the sound dark and scary. “You are going to regret your action

  • THE ORACLE IS MY MATE   Chapter 48

Abigeal’s POVI was finally taken back to my room. I was numb and dirty. I hadn’t had anything to eat since my stay in the dungeon. I was cold, hair matted, skin creasy, and shivering.Sabestain was the one leading me. He was two steps ahead, and he never looked back to see if I was following or keeping up.But I was, so he didn’t need to either way. On my way back to my room, some maids were casting promiscuous glances at me. I ignored them because I had not had proper rest, food, or cover. So they could keep on, but when I had my strength back, they would regret it.Sabestain opened my room and walked in. I followed in after and I thought he would leave when I was inside. But he did no such thing.I glared at him. “I’m here now, leave,” I ordered. He bowed, took two steps back, and remained in the room.My eyes clashed with his icy blue ones, and I became enraged. “What do you want?”“I want to know why you did it,” he simply said. “He’s your brother.”I snorted. “Take your leave,

  • THE ORACLE IS MY MATE   Chapter 47

Sorrel’s POVI was waiting for the divine moment our lips would touch—but then I heard a knock and I jumped away from him. Faster than a lightning bolt. I stood by the candle, heart in my throat. Then the door flew open to Mel and Poppy.“Ladies.” I curtsied. “Is there a problem?”My face was flushed and my heart was pounding in such a way I feared it might give us away.*But nothing happened* Nadia said with an eye roll. *You should have been faster*Ignoring her, I turned to Kaine who was frozen like a statue.“We came to see if you are through with the section.”I gave them a butter smile, it spread over my face and down through my body.“We are not. If you don’t mind—“ then an idea dropped in my head. I faced Mel.“Mel?” I called sweetly.“Yes, your highness.”“Why did the oracle leave the pack house when the plague is far from over or in this case, discovered at all? Are you abandoning your duties now?”Mel quickly shook her head. “Of course not, your highness. The oracle and I a

Sorrel’s POVKaine looked like he had seen a ghost, he backed away, fully. I sauntered into the room at the temple, taking in everything. It was big, with a grey shelf by the side, white bedsheets, a table for reading, and a whole section where he kept his divine things. From that stash of divine objects, I saw that candles were lit, and I knew he was meditating before I came. No wonder he was covered in sweat, what I wouldn’t give to trail my tongue over his golden skin.I took my eyes from the spot to him. He was far back like I would give him a plague.“What are you doing here Luna Sorrel?”Ah, I see that we’ve reverted to our previous problem. Calling me by my title. I ignored it and crossed my hands over my chest.“Why did you leave the pack house? Come back.” I told him.He shook his head. “I have to focus on finding out about the plague.”“You can do that from the pack house,” I took a step forward and he moved back.I wanted to tell him that I wasn’t going to bite or hurt him

I placed my hand over my thighs, feeling the smooth and cool feeling of my dress.“What propelled you to ask that?” She began unwinding my hair from the little rod that held it in place“You vomited in the dungeon,” she said. “You never called the royal physician to check on you.”I remembered that vividly well, the dungeon and the stench emitting from it had made me nauseous and I’d thrown up

The Oracle’s POVShe got closer despite my previous warning. She was in the temple, though I could not remember how she got in “Come to me Oracle.” Her voice was small, smooth, and lilting like oil.It washed over my skin and my chest hot in that familiar foreign yet pleasant way.“I cannot,” I told her, remaining firm on my words, my doctrine and principles. “Why not?” She asked, tone still soft and tender. “Why will you keep yourself from your mate?”“I am not supposed to—“Suddenly she was not as far as she appeared, she was standing beside me. She traced a finger over my arms, my cuffs, and took my wrist.“You are mine, Kaine.”Her voice remained ever soothing, luring me in like a siren.“And I am yours. Do you not like it? For me to be yours?”I inhaled, knowing the right answer yet, finding it hard to say the word.“Imagine Kaine,” she got on her toes, her fingers wrapped behind my neck gently, warmly, with so much affection. My heart took a maddening beat, I could not keep up
