He needed room to move. Three seconds. Taylor stood far, far away from the basket. He bent his knees. And he threw the ball—hard, high, like a rocket shooting into the sky. The whole stadium went dead quiet. Charlie squeezed Dawn’s hand so tightly, and they both held their breaths. The ball flew in slow motion in Charlie’s eyes. I nod moving my legs apart. "Enough. Now, keep your right foot slightly in front." I again nod and do as he says. "Your elbow should be pointed directly at the basket," He says again making me hold the ball properly. "Now, what you have to do is, bend your knees a little and push upward, then release the ball off your fingertips. Ready?"

Coach Vega ran the session alongside me without saying a word about what had just happened, which was either professional grace or the understanding that there was nothing useful to say about it, and either way I was grateful.
