“That was quick.” I sighed, grateful for the distraction. “Because there wasn’t any real training,” I muttered. Kai smirked. “She’s impatient.” Damien let out a soft chuckle. “That doesn’t surprise me.” He turned his focus back to me. “If you’re free now, you should come with me. I want to show you something.” I frowned. “Show me what?” “My workshop.” My frown deepened. “Your workshop?” Kai was the one who answered. “Damien isn’t just an intellectual lycan—he’s a genius. He’s the one who designs most of the warcraft and weapons used in Blackwood and beyond.”

I missed the first one miserably, but Damian stood behind me, his chest pressed against my back, and guided my hand. “Focus,” he whispered. I could barely hear over the thrum of blood in my ears. I hit the target. Three times in a row. The booth owner handed me a prize, then another, then a third. Soon I had three ridiculous stuffed dolls in my arms, and Damian was smiling like a lunatic. We continued walking, and he stopped by a jewelry vendor. Without asking, he picked up a small ear charm shaped like a crescent moon. “It’s spelled,” he explained, clipping it to my ear. “Protects against minor attacks.”

“But standing here, I choose life. I don't really care, I want to walk into it together with you. I am not afraid of tomorrow, because I’m with you.” Damien’s voice was calm, but his hands were trembling when he took mine. “I have let you down before,” he added, “but I won’t do it again. I'm in your corner, darling. I offer you myself, not from addiction, but from humanness,” he concluded. “Whatever the Goddess asks me to do, I'll be right there with you.” As they tied up their hands with the ceremonial sash, there was none but the prayers of the elders that could be heard in the hall.

“Since when did you care about my health other than paying the bills?“ Damian wanted to say he cares. Though he has been a dickhead but he keeps track of his recovery process. But he decided not to push it further. He swallowed past the bile rising in his throat. “I came to ask you about my family. My family's name is Stormrider. They are a member of the Cadman pack. Did you by any chance remember them?“

Both Diana and Tommy glanced at each other in complete bewilderment. They both gaped and looked back at Damian who seemed to recover to his trance-like state and panicked when he saw his hand with a massive flame coating it. "Oh, help! Fire! Fire!" Diana went to his side and touched his shoulder. "It's alright Damian. Breathe in and out. Stay focused. The fire wasn't hurting anyone. Inhale, exhale." T
