Kiara shut the book just in time as a knock came on the door, her breathing heavy.
“There is no way,” she muttered, her head banging. The Lycans were the villains, that was how the story goes.
The knock came again, and she dunked the book into the safe, then unlocked the door and Devon stood outside with a smile, which faltered as soon as he saw Kiara’s sober face.
“What is wrong?”
She smiled weakly at him and shook her head, “nothing, just tired.”
“From?”
“… reading,” she muttered and Devon’s brow shot up. His eyes darted to the safe, then he looked at her. “I started the book today, and it feels like I have been thrust into a world of scribbled nonsense.”
