Her hands trembled against her lap until Luca took them into his, steady and strong.
“You were flawless,” he said softly.
“I was terrified,” she whispered.
“That’s what made it flawless,” he replied, pressing her knuckles to his lips.
But even as he soothed her, his phone buzzed incessantly on the seat beside him—messages from board members, lawyers, his father, and half of Manhattan’s high society. Luca didn’t reach for it. His attention stayed on her.
