Baylee gritted her teeth. “Long enough to stop you.”
A figure stepped from the shadows then—a woman cloaked in black, her hair pale as frost. Her eyes glowed red, her smile sharp as broken glass.
Jade.
The air crackled with dark energy. Wolves stumbled back, the very ground trembling beneath her presence.
“So,” Jade purred, her gaze landing on Baylee. “The Moon’s chosen hides among mortals.”
Baylee stepped forward, though her knees threatened to buckle. “I’m not hiding.”
