After Ronan left, we stayed in the office. “He’s going to the Lycan king,” Leila said.

A knowing smile curled the corners of his lips, opening the door and meeting only Stacey inside. “Where did Lena go?” “She passed the other door to my room. She didn’t want to join us for breakfast.” Stacey said with a low voice. “Then come join me.” Ronan said, setting the chairs. He took her hand as she approached him, leading her to her chair and seating her down before taking the one in front of her. They started eating in silence, Ronan stealing glances at Stacey who seemed like she could finish the whole table. “Do you want more?” He asked as she finished her food.

Lyra “Is Maya's little performance the reason you look like this?” I froze halfway through lifting my drink. That voice. I turned around and found Ronan standing behind me with one hand tucked casually into the pocket of his dark trousers. Unlike most of the guests dressed in elaborate ceremonial attire, Ronan looked effortlessly put together. He wore a fitted black jacket over a charcoal-gray shirt, the sleeves rolled slightly above his wrists. The outfit was simple compared to the lavish clothing around him, yet somehow it suited him perfectly.

But accepting their party invitation would be going too far. “Stop being a pest, Celeste.” Ronan cut me off, his gaze shifting to Celeste for a moment before locking back onto mine. There was a mischievous and sharp glint in his eyes now. “You’re bothering the girl. I don’t think she has the balls to party. She’s too perfect. Too good and naive to hang around the likes of us.” My gaze hardened as I stared back into his daring eyes. Too perfect, too good and naive? Was that really how he thought of me?

Elias’s POV Ronan didn’t leave the room immediately. He stayed seated beside me, shoulder pressed against mine, silently thinking. His breathing was controlled, steady. Mine wasn’t. “Ronan,” I whispered. “What exactly are you planning to do?” He didn’t answer right away. “I will create a distraction,” he finally said. “One strong enough that Hale has no reason to look at you again.” My stomach twisted painfully. “No. Hale is already suspicious. If he thinks you were the one triggering the alarms…”

“Delay is how people like Ronan win.” The northern meeting ground was neutral territory in name only. Stone, open sky, long sightlines. No walls. No corners. A place built for the illusion of fairness. Lyra arrived alone. Ronan was already there. He stood near the center marker, hands clasped behind his back, posture relaxed. Too relaxed. Like a man who believed the board had finally stopped shifting under his feet. “Lyra Vale,” he greeted. “You came.” She stopped at a measured distance away. “You asked.”

“Didn’t take you for the soft type, Declan.” My pulse exploded. Linus opened his mouth, maybe to joke his way out of it, but before he could, another voice cut in. Cold. Steady. Dangerous. “Back off.” It was Ronan. He stepped into the circle, his dark eyes slicing across Caden like blades. “I said,” Ronan repeated, “back. Off.” Caden’s smirk faltered. “Relax, Darius. We’re just talking.” Ronan’s gaze didn’t move. “You call this talking?”

His hand rested lightly on the curve of my waist, grounding and maddening all at once. “I see that our Luna has been training you.” Nolan said, choosing to direct his question to the children who are watching excitedly. “And I can tell if this is how your training is starting, then I'm going to have a stronger league on my line, aren't I?” I tilted my face up, ready to ask what the hell he was doing. I wanted to ask what he was doing, but the smile that was on his face was one that I never saw. Even the children were happy to see him like this.

Cillian I hear them before I see them. Heavy steps. Controlled. Familiar. Declan and Liam don’t enter a room quietly, not because they can’t, but because they don’t need to. Their presence speaks before they do. It always has. It always will. Ronan, on the other hand, is already grinning like a fucking idiot. “You missed it,” he says the second they step into the kitchen, leaning back in his chair like he’s been waiting for this exact moment. “Our fearless leader here was having a very… interesting morning.”

I looked at the phone for a second as I stood in front of a blind spot, knowing that I needed to stay away from the cameras. -Done, you have three minutes. His response was almost instant, and I knew that they were waiting for me. I checked the time before I put my phone back in my pocket, knowing that my time was limited and that I had to get out of here to ensure that they didn’t see the path that I took. The last thing that I needed was them tracking the cameras toward the pack, and knowing the Alpha of Alphas, the Russian Pakhan, Dean Ivanov, I knew that it would happen.
