I heard the rapid hum of her heart as she muttered how good I was in bed, making me down the glass of wine I'd been holding before walking over. How could I miss the hungry look that was casted by the boy beside her? One look from me and he immediately backed off. I could smell him, I knew what he was–a vampire, just like the rest of the Beaumont family. And just like me, they'd been amidst humans for as long as I could remember. When he left, I turned to Harriet, seeing her big blue eyes rest onto me, and the faint blush that had crept its way up her cheeks. It made something stir in my chest. Something I had never felt before.
